Play nice, please.

I'm glad you've found this page. It means you're interested to know what the best habits are for discussing matters on the boards. I'm going to give you a little primer.

Step one: Take credit.

This is very important.

It's very easy to impersonate someone online. While there are tools that can authenticate every user, and systems can be set up to personalize and ensure you are the name you put down, it takes a lot of effort and maintenance. So I haven't done that. I'm going to try to develop something that proves you're human, so there's less spam for me to filter.

Regardless, it won't prove that you're the name you write. So, while I have some tricks on my side (I do get your IP address when you create a new post to the discussion board), I'm counting on you to tell the truth. Don't pretend you're someone else. If you do, I'll delete the post. If it continues, I'll ban you from posting. Don't make me be the bad guy.

Step two: Don't be a dick.

This should go without saying, right? Inflammatory comments, blatant disregard for others' feelings and general douchbaggery is not acceptable on the discussions here.

I understand that the attitude is casual. I'm not trying to mess with that. You have the freedom to post what you want, even if it's a little bit risque. There are occasions when the content of conversations steps into a more grey ground. Keep a good head on your shoulders and we'll be okay. If you're a dick, I'll warn you, then I go into bad guy mode.

Step three: There is no step three (yet)

I think that's pretty much all the ground rules one needs. Also, a short disclaimer: While I am indeed the Webmaster of this fair site, I disclaim any credit or responsibility for the text. If I choose to edit, remove, or alter the content of this site, it is solely at my discretion, and I shall not be made responsible for content that I did not create. Essentially, it's not my problem if someone is an asshat, but I might fix it.
